The Body as Battlefield – A Program on Body Politics
The body is never just flesh and bone. It is the smallest site where power takes hold—the assembly line disciplines limbs, social norms regulate desire, gender identity tears through the skin, historical trauma engraves itself into the skeleton, labor blackens the lungs, and foot-binding twists the bones.
These eleven films turn their gaze to bodies that are written upon, transformed, scrutinized, and reclaimed. They ask an ancient and sharp question: when the body becomes a battlefield, how do we regain sovereignty over it?
