In March and April of 2019, Zeng Dekuang and I spent more than 20 days traveling. Starting from the Wanzhou Sanhe Prison in Chongqing where his close friend Qin Yong was serving his sentence, we went to several places where he lived for a long time and lived in his childhood. The mountain villages in Wugang, Hunan, the city of Ningxiang where he lived in his youth, the county town of Zhongxian County in Chongqing, where he has been living for many years after graduation, and Daling Mountain in the Golden Town of Zhongxian County, and the ancient city of Phoenix where his wife and daughter now live. He Lu, an old friend, also went around for ten days, and De Kuang called it a homecoming trip.

Wandering is a label that Zeng Dekuang cannot get rid of, and his tiredness of wandering makes his hometown another motif. He returned to his hometown again and again and went away again and again, but he couldn’t find the feeling again and again. “I have to go on.” “I can’t enter the temple, nor can I retreat to the hometown of ordinary people.” “I don’t have a hometown, my hometown has been lost on the road of migration.” “It’s just walking dead everywhere.“Just like wandering, wine is also an important medium for Zeng Dekuang to find feelings. He looks dull and clumsy in words without drinking. Alcohol seemed to infuse him with the spirit, and when he came in two or two, he started to make calls to 100 people, eloquently and unscrupulously: Brother, I drank again…The metaphysical and metaphysical parts are clearly juxtaposed in his body.Ten years ago, Dekuang discussed with Zhuang Ruijie about this trip, but it has never been possible. Qin Yong is about to be released from prison this year, and De Kuang hopes to visit the prison before Qin is released. A coincidence led to this trip.
